Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
